WICHITA FALLS, TX – The Wichita Falls Warriors are pleased to announce that forward and captain Jackson Wozniak has committed to Lindenwood University to further his hockey and academic career.
“I’m just beyond grateful for the opportunity”, said Wozniak. “I’ve wanted to play college hockey my whole life and I’m excited to be a part of something very special at Lindenwood.” The Lindenwood University Lions hockey program currently competes in the American Collegiate Hockey Association at the NCAA Division II level, but the men’s ice hockey program will make the transition to Division I starting in the 2022-23 season. “Very similar to this year with the Warriors being their inaugural season, I’ll have the opportunity to be a part of Lindenwood’s inaugural season as the team transitions to Division I”.
This season with the Warriors, Wozniak has recorded a total of 16 points on 4 goals and 12 assists in 32 games played. The Warriors captain knows that there is a special culture in Wichita Falls that has helped him grow into this opportunity. “The character in the locker room is second to none and my teammates constantly challenge me on and off the ice everyday, and I couldn’t have done it without them.” Wozniak joins five other Warriors who have already made their commitments.
Warriors Head Coach Garrett Roth has been pleased with Wozniak’s production and character on and off the ice since the moment he chose to become a Warrior. “As a coaching staff and organization, we are so excited for Jackson and his family for earning this opportunity at Lindenwood”, said Roth. “Jackson had quite a few teams after him this offseason, but he chose to come here to Wichita Falls and help lead an expansion team in its inaugural season.” There was no doubt in anyone’s mind that Wozniak could help lead the team as he carried himself as a leader from the moment he met his teammates and arrived in Wichita Falls. “His leadership from day one led to him unanimously being voted as our captain and he has continued throughout the season to be a difference maker for us in every aspect of the game.” Out of Wozniak’s four goals scored this season, two have been game winning goals and one was scored short-handed. “His experience this season will help him go into Lindenwood and help lead that program in its transition period.” Roth and the entire Warriors organization now looks forward to seeing Wozniak excel at the next level just as he has here in the North American Hockey League during the Warriors inaugural season. “We are grateful for what he has helped build here in Wichita Falls, and we are looking forward to watching his continued growth as a player and person through college hockey.”
