Warriors Tender Swedish Defenseman Marcus Frantz

WICHITA FALLS, TX — The Warriors are pleased to announce that the team has signed Swedish defenseman Marcus Frantz to a tender contract for the 2020-21 season.

Frantz, a 2001-born left-handed skater, suited up for Södertälje SK J20 and AIK J20 in the J20 SuperElit, Sweden’s highest-level junior league. He put up four goals and 12 assists in 38 games this season.

“Marcus is a defenseman that can play in every situation for us,” Head Coach Garrett Roth said. “His accountability and attention to detail in the defensive zone is a direct result of him coming from one of the best junior programs in Sweden. His I.Q. allows him to be a threat in the offensive zone by finding soft areas in coverage and activating to create scoring chances.”

Frantz is the fourth defenseman and the fourteenth overall player tendered by the Warriors as they continue to work towards building their roster. He joins fellow tendered defensemen Lane Ruffner, Max Techel, and Jack Blanchett, forwards Luke Panchisin, Nick Urtis, Chase Davis, Sam Myers, Alex Walker, Jackson Wozniak, and goaltenders Sean Guerin and Owen Bartoszkiewicz in a strong recruiting class for the upcoming 2020-21 season, the Warriors’ first in the league.

The Warriors have announced the revised date for camps prior to the NAHL Draft in July. Players can register for camps here.

*A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the NAPHL – plus or minus any trades – which became active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held on July 21, 2020. *
