Warriors Fall 4-1 to Brahmas on the Road

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX- The Wichita Falls (3-4-0-2) fell 4-1 in their first road game of the season at the NYTEX Sports Centre to the Lone Star Brahmas (7-2-0-0).

Early in the first period the goaltenders for both sides made some key saves to begin the game.  Warriors goaltender Owen Bartoszkiewicz (23 saves) stretched out to his right to rob and attempt from the Brahmas, while the Brahmas goaltender, Graham Burke (26 saves) made a stop on the Ryan Robinson breakaway attempt for Wichita Falls.  The Brahmas would get on the board first with a tip in goal by Zach Purcell (5) 11:49 into the opening frame.  It looked like the Warriors were going to go into the first intermission trailing 1-0 until the Brahmas iced the puck, giving the Warriors and offensive zone faceoff with 7.4 remaining on the clock in the first period.  Off the draw, forward Drew Vieten (4) got a shot off and went to the front of the net and with the second effort on his own rebound scored a buzzer beating goal to tie the game 1-1 as time expired in the first.

In the second period the Brahmas would retake the lead at 2-1 just 1:40 in.  Warriors defenseman Aidan Torres would then take a 5-minute major and a game misconduct for boarding and the Warriors were then tasked will killing off the 5-minute major power play while trailing by one.  However, one minute into the power play and the Brahmas took three straight penalties and the Warriors were able to kill off the 5-minute penalty.  The Warriors trailed by one heading into the final period of play.

In the third period Lone Star would increase their lead to 3-1 with a goal from Joey Baez 4:29 into the period.  The Brahmas would add another goal late in the frame and top the Warriors by a final of 4-1.

Graham Burke (7-2-0-0) got the win for Lone Star and Owen Bartoszkiewicz (2-2-0-1) got the loss for Wichita Falls.
