Warriors Fall to Mudbugs in a Shootout

WICHITA FALLS, TX- The Wichita Falls Warriors (0-1-0-2) dropped their second shootout loss of the season by a final score of 4-3 to the Shreveport Mudbugs (1-0-0-0) on Friday night at the Kay Yeager Coliseum.

The Warriors got off to a fast start with two goals in the first period scored by Thomas Weis (2) and Jackson Wozniak (1) giving the captain his first NAHL goal. Wichita Falls took the 2-0 lead into the second period.

The Warriors would take a 3-0 lead on the power play as Drew Vieten found Jackson Salt (2) open for the one-time goal. With just 38 seconds remaining in the second period, Sean Bunting (1) was able to put the Mudbugs on the board. The Warriors would take a roughing penalty late in the period that would carry over to the third.

Early in the third period, the Mudbugs were able to cut the Warriors lead to one 0:50 into the frame with a power play goal off the stick of Austin Brimmer (1). Brimmer (2) would add his second of the game with another goal just 3:19 later to tie the game at 3-3.

The game would go to overtime where both goalies made some timely saves to keep the game even at 3-3. Ryan Ullan finished with 40 saves for Wichita Falls. Cullen DeYoung finished with 37 saves for Shreveport.

After a scoreless overtime the game would head to a shootout. The Mudbugs would score first but Wozniak would even up the shootout score in the third round. In the fourth round the Mudbugs were able to score again and DeYoung shut the door to give the Mudbugs a 4-3 win.

Next up, the Warriors look to even up the weekend series with the Mudbugs back in the Kay Yeager Coliseum on Saturday, November 7. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM.
