WICHITA FALLS, TX – The Wichita Falls Warriors are pleased to announce the tender of 2004 defenseman Marshall Beaker.
Beaker, a native of Brighton, Michigan, felt very confident and comfortable with his decision to tender with the Warriors. “I chose to tender with Coach Roth after attending the Warriors main camp this past summer as a free agent invite,” said Beaker. “Coach Roth made it a priority to maintain a line of communication after the camp, so when the time came to sign a tender, I felt very comfortable with the Warriors.”
The defenseman currently plays for the Oakland Grizzlies AAA hockey team. During the 2020-2021 campaign, Beaker scored 19 points through 46 contests.
Warriors head coach Garrett Roth looks forward to adding Beaker’s speed to his D-core. “Marshall is a dynamic defenseman that has an ability to break pressure with his quickness and skill set,” said Roth. “His ability to command the puck and draw players to him will play into our transition game and how we want to be able to play with speed.”
Beaker credits his quick style of play to his coach Matt West. It was during his U13 season that West switched Beaker from a forward to a blueliner. This change morphed Beaker into the skilled defenseman he is today. “I am a modern day, offensive, puck moving defenseman that, given I am a former forward, likes to jump up in the rush and generate offense from the backend.”
