Wichita Falls Offense Powers Warriors Past Mudbugs for First Win of the Season

WICHITA FALLS, TX- The Wichita Falls Warriors (1-1-0-2) put up 6 goals and defeat the Shreveport Mudbugs (1-1-0-0) by a final score of 6-4 on Saturday night at the Kay Yeager Coliseum.

The Warriors got off to a fast start in the first period.  Jackson Salt (3) got the scoring started just 35 seconds into the game.  The Mudbugs would tie it midway though the period but Adisen Brueck would net his second of the season 17:19 into the first to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead after one.

The action started to heat up in the second period of play.  First, it was Thomas Weis (3) from the captain Jackson Wozniak (2) on the power play to extent the lead to 3-1 5:33 into the second.  The Mudbugs would then score a power play goal and add a second tally to tie the game at 3-3.  Mac Wiseman (1) would steal the lead back for Wichita Falls 11:56 into the period.  Then the Nick Lanigan show took over the next few minutes of the period.  First, Lanigan (1) would put the Warriors up 5-3 with his first of the season 13:47 into the period.  Then, just 25 seconds later with the Warriors on the penalty kill, Lanigan (2) would steal the puck and score his second of the night with the short-handed goal to put the Warriors up 6-3.  The Warriors would bring the three goal lead into the third period.

The Warriors would tighten up defensively and lean on the solid play of Owen Bartoszkiewicz in net who recorded 31 saves on 35 shots faced to record his first NAHL win.  The Mudbugs would score a late goal with just 17 seconds remaining giving the Warriors the 6-4 victory.  The Warriors gain two points and bring their total to 4 points on the season through 4 games played.

Next up, the Warriors are set to host the New Mexico Ice Wolves for a weekend series at the Kay Yeager Coliseum beginning on Friday, November 13.  Puck drop is at 7:05 PM.
